I cast on with size 10 needles and did the seed stitch band...then no size 10 dpns but I had size 9 16" circulars and also longer circulars for magic loop at the top. I kept on going and by halftime I had a hat! It calls for a fun large button and I've had this one for over 20 years - it was one I found in my grandmother's collection. It goes perfectly.
Here is Miss America modeling it...she wants it but it is MINE! Okay, I'll share.

I just finished the quickest knit too !!! I knit the Anthropology Inspired braided headwrap. SO gorgeous !!! Anyway, enough of THAT, your hat is utterly adorable and I can see why your daughter wants to steal it !
Oh how I need to knit something out of purple. WHICH purple to choose is the main question....so many colour ways. You had a good eye for this hat though. :) I'm liking the purple YOU chose !
I really love that pattern and yours looks great in that beautiful color. (That's my favorite wardrobe color right now.) I made one a few years ago and it didn't look right on me :( so my daughter has it.
LOVE the color, especially on you blue-eyed blondes.
